Our Process

Metal Object with markers being 3D scanned. Photo belongs to momentum 360.

While we tailor our setup to each project, here's what you can expect:

  • Consultation & Project Scope: We start by understanding your project goals, required accuracy, and the specifics of the object to be scanned.
  • Flexible Scanning Options: We can either come to you for large, fragile, or immovable objects, or you can drop the object off at our office for scanning.
  • Surface Preparation: Depending on the object's material and surface properties, we may prepare the surface using scanning spray or apply temporary markers.
  • 3D Scanning: We scan the object from multiple angles until the desired detail is reached.
  • Post-Processing: Once the scanning is complete, we perform post-processing steps to build a 3D point cloud, remove noise, and build a model.
  • Model Delivery: We deliver the 3D model in your desired file format (e.g., STL, OBJ, PLY).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is Laser Line Scanning?

Laser line scanning projects a laser line onto an object, capturing highly accurate and detailed surface data. While slower than full field structured light scanning, it's ideal for shiny & black objects.

What are the benefits of Laser Line Scanning?

  • High Accuracy
  • Excellent for capturing fine details
  • Versatile for various object types

What is Full Field Scanning?

Full field scanning uses structured light to capture the entire surface of an object simultaneously, offering rapid and efficient data acquisition, particularly for complex shapes.

What are the benefits of Full Field Scanning?

  • Rapid data capture
  • Efficient for complex shapes
  • Can capture color and texture information

What accuracy can I expect?

We scan with a high degree of accuracy, up to 0.03mm.

What are the common applications of 3D scanning?

  • Reverse Engineering
  • Quality Inspection
  • Product Design & Development
  • Artifact Preservation
  • Manufacturing & Tooling

What file formats do you provide?

We can deliver your 3D scan data in various industry-standard file formats, including STL, OBJ, and PLY.

What types of objects can you scan?

We can scan a wide range of objects, from small and intricate parts to large industrial equipment. Contact us to discuss the specifics of your project.
