Problem
A local enthusiast restoring his grandfather’s 1967 Ford Mustang hit a standstill when several small but critical interior parts—including unique plastic clips and a brittle air‑intake manifold—were broken beyond repair. After months of searching he discovered that original replacements were long out of production, and the few used pieces available were either in poor condition or exorbitantly priced. He needed high‑quality, durable parts that would fit perfectly and stand the test of time so the classic Mustang could return to the road.
Solution
Morin 3D began by performing high‑fidelity 3D scans of the fragmented components, capturing exact geometry and generating precise digital blueprints. Our designers converted the scans into CAD, then reinforced known weak points, beefing up the clips and redesigning the manifold’s internal structure for greater durability. Finally, the parts were 3D‑printed in modern, engineering‑grade polymers formulated to withstand automotive heat and stress, producing replacements that were dimensionally accurate and significantly stronger than the 50‑year‑old originals.
Results
The client received a full set of custom‑manufactured parts that fit the Mustang perfectly, allowing the restoration to proceed to completion. Thanks to contemporary materials and improved design, the new components represent a lasting upgrade rather than a temporary fix, ensuring they will not become a failure point in the future.
