High-Resolution Digital Twins
Morin 3D is a premier 3D scanning company based in Victoria, BC, providing professional laser scanning and IR scanning services for industrial machinery, large-scale automotive (cars), and marine applications (boats).
That discontinued part. That irreplaceable antique. That architectural detail no one makes anymore. We scan it, digitize it, and help you recreate it. Exactly as it was, or better than before.
Our 3D Scanning Verticals
We provide professional 3D and laser scanning services tailored to specific high-value applications across Victoria and Vancouver Island.
Industrial & Marine Scanning
Reverse engineer legacy parts, inspect pump housings, or scan marine components like hulls and custom decking with millimeter precision. We capture large-scale industrial assemblies directly on the factory floor or shipyard.
Automotive & Restorations
Digitize complete vehicle chassis, engine bays, or discontinued body panels. Perfect for race car fabrication, custom restoration parts, and archiving rare historical vehicle designs.
Art, Architecture & Moldings
Preserve delicate artwork or capture detailed profiles of custom baseboards, plaster shields, and crown moldings in-situ. We create high-fidelity digital replicas for heritage preservation and replication.

Featured Past Projects
Explore how we have utilized high-resolution 3D scanning to solve complex engineering and restoration challenges in Victoria, BC.
Heritage Restoration: Gate of Harmonious Interest
To restore Victoria's iconic Chinatown gate, we performed precision 3D scans of the intricate, weathering wood and plaster trim. The digital twins allowed craftspeople to replicate every detail exactly.

Automotive Restoration: 300SL Roadster
Scanned body panels for a local restoration shop. We digitized one of the few remaining cars of this vintage so spare parts can be created for future repairs.

Heritage Restoration: Fairmont Empress Plaster
To replicate deteriorated plaster elements at Victoria's iconic Fairmont Empress hotel, we performed high-precision 3D scans of the surviving decorative trim. These scans were converted to digital models to 3D print exact modular replacements.

I have an old part with no drawings. Can you still help?
That's exactly what we specialize in. We scan the physical object directly—no drawings, CAD files, or documentation needed. We capture the geometry and create new files from scratch.
Can you scan something and then 3D print copies of it?
Yes—this is one of our most common workflows. We scan the object, clean up the digital file, and then produce as many copies as you need via 3D printing. Our CAD team can also modify the design before printing.
My object is too large/fragile to bring in. Can you come to me?
Absolutely. We offer on-site scanning across Victoria, Vancouver Island, and Vancouver. Whether it's a vehicle, machinery, or an installed architectural element, we bring the equipment to you.
How accurate are the scans?
Our professional scanners achieve accuracy from ±0.04mm to ±0.3mm depending on the object's size and requirements, ensuring precise measurements for reverse engineering or replication.
Can you scan shiny, black, or transparent surfaces?
Yes. We handle tricky reflective, dark, or transparent surfaces using specialized scanning sprays or matting techniques. They're non-destructive and fully removable—we won't damage your original.
